What's this $20 non-covered charge?
This charge is not a copay, prepay or co-insurance. It's a $20 additional charge for procedures and time not paid by your insurance.
United HealthCare (UHC) and UMR only pay for one treatment per visit, like a traditional five minute chiropractic adjustment. A standard visit here is more comprehensive. The $20 charge covers treatments not paid by insurance. This could include exercise instruction, treatment of multiple areas, soft tissue treatment, laser therapy, dry needling, or anything beyond a basic adjustment/manipulation office visit.
Medicare and Medicaid only pay for spinal manipulation. Therefore, any visit more than a basic adjustment/manipulation has a $20 charge.
Other insurance carriers do allow multiple treatments per visit but most do not pay for laser therapy or dry needling.
If this charge was a surprise to you or you think it was a mistake, please let us know and we will fix it.
